Abstract

This study examines the proliferation of hate speech in digital spaces, particularly within Instagram comments directed at former Indonesian President Joko Widodo (@jokowi). Using a forensic linguistics approach with qualitative descriptive methods, the research analyzes linguistic units: words, phrases, clauses, and sentences containing elements of hate speech. The study aims to identify both the types of hate speech and their categorization based on social effects. The findings reveal five dominant forms of hate speech: insults, defamation, provocation, incitement, and the dissemination of false information. These forms reflect patterns of negative expression prevalent in online public discourse. Furthermore, based on their social impact, hate speech is categorized into three main effects: stigmatization, labeling, and stereotyping. The study demonstrates that hate speech operates not only at the linguistic level but also produces broader social consequences by shaping public perception of individuals and groups. This research contributes to the development of forensic linguistic analysis in digital contexts and provides insights into the socio-linguistic dynamics of online communication.
