KAJIAN SEMIOTIKA RIFFATERRE TERHADAP LIRIK LAGU ‘EVAKUASI’ DALAM ALBUM MENARI DENGAN BAYANGAN KARYA HINDIA

Abstract

This study aims to reveal the implicit meaning in the lyrics of “Evakuasi” by Hindia in the album Menari dengan Bayangan through Riffaterre’s semiotic approach. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method with data consisting of words, phrases, and lines from the song lyrics “Evakuasi”, obtained from the official lyrics available on Spotify. Data were collected through close reading and note-taking, while data analysis followed Riffaterre’s semiotic stages, namely indirect expression, heuristic and hermeneutic reading, determination of matrix, model, and variants, and intertextual reference through hypogram. The results show that the lyrics contain indirect expression through displacement of meaning, distortion of meaning, and creation of meaning. Heuristic reading reveals the lyric persona’s desire to withdraw from crowd and social interaction, while hermeneutic reading uncovers a deeper meaning, namely the effort to escape social pressure, public expectations, and the objectification of identity. The matrix of the text is the desire to live peacefully, which is embodied in the lyric persona as a public figure who is weary of exposure and then developed into variants that emphasize rejection of fame, validation, and social imitation. Therefore, the lyrics of “Evakuasi” represent a psychological escape as well as a search for inner peace amid the burdens of modern life.
