Abstract
This study aims to describe the types of noun-based profanities used in the comment section of the TikTok account @puttriipadang. The study employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The research data consist of linguistic units containing noun-based profanities found in the comments on the @puttriipadang TikTok account, while the data sources are netizens' comments on several posts selected purposively based on high levels of interaction. Data collection was carried out using the observational method, specifically the non-participatory observation technique and the note-taking technique. The data were analyzed using the referential identity method by classifying the noun-based profanities according to their referents, based on the framework proposed by Agustina (2019). The results reveal 37 instances of noun-based profanities categorized into seven groups: body parts (8 instances), animals (2 instances), food (16 instances), places and directions (1 instance), diseases (4 instances), character traits (4 instances), and plants (2 instances). The most dominant category consists of noun-based profanities referring to food. These findings indicate that the use of noun-based profanities on social media utilizes various referents as a means to convey mockery, insults, and negative judgments toward other individuals during digital interactions.
