Refleksi Perjuangan Perempuan pada Masa Kolonial dalam Novel Cantik Itu Luka karya Eka Kurniawan

Abstract

This article discusses the reflection of women's struggle during the colonial period in the novel Cantik Itu Luka by Eka Kurniawan. The research aims to find out (1) women's struggle in the domestic sector in the novel Cantik Itu Luka by Eka Kurniawan, (2) women's struggle in the public sector in the novel Cantik Itu Luka by Eka Kurniawan. This research is a qualitative research using descriptive method. The data and data sources of this research are a set of language in the form of words, sentences and expressions quoted and supporting the object of study in the novel Cantik Itu Luka by Eka Kurniawan. The type of research is qualitative research using descriptive method. This study uses data collection steps: (1) reading repeatedly from beginning to end and understanding the novel Cantik Itu Luka by Eka Kurniawan to gain an understanding of the novel's story, (2) marking parts of the story that contain data on women's struggles during the colonial period in the domestic and public sectors in the novel Cantik Itu L uka by Eka Kurniawan, and (3) inventorying the characters in the novel Cantik Itu Luka by Eka Kurniawan, to get female characters related to the research problem using the inventory format. The results of this study can be concluded that the novel Cantik Itu Luka by Eka Kurniawan is a novel in which women experience oppression and injustice. There is also sexual violence that is indirectly depicted in the novel Cantik Itu Luka by Eka Kurniawan. Therefore, the researcher examines the struggle of women during the colonial period. From the point of view of feminism, the struggle of women in the novel Cantik Itu Luka by Eka Kurniawan is divided into two, namely the domestic and public sectors. The domestic sector includes the struggle of women as children, the struggle of women as mothers, and the struggle of women as wives. Meanwhile, the public sector includes women's struggle in education, women's struggle in the world of work, women's struggle in property ownership rights, and women's struggle in organizations.
