Abstract

This research aims to describe the structure and function of pantun in the text of speech pasambahan of the Maminang event in Nagari Kapuh community Koto XI Tarusan Subdistrict, Pesisir Selatan Regency. This type of research is folkloric research. There are three techniques used in data collection, namely (1) observation, (2) interviews, and (3) documentation. The data validation uses triangulation techniques. After all the data collected, several stages were carried out, namely the transcription stage, transliteration, classification and analysis, and reporting stages. Based on the analysis and interpretation of the data, the following research results were found. First, the structure of pantun in the text of speech pasambahan of the Maminang event in Nagari community Kapuh, Koto XI Tarusan Subdistrict, Pesisir Selatan Regency includes stanza, array, cover, and body. Second, the function of pantun in the text of speech pasambahan of the Maminang event in Nagari Kapuh community, Koto XI Tarusan Subdistrict, Pesisir Selatan Regency includes expressive function, directive function, and aesthetic function.
