Potret Poligami dalam Novel Surga Yang Tak Dirindukan karya Asma Nadia

Abstract

This study aims to describe the background of polygamy, explain the impact of polygamy, and describe the attitude of female characters in dealing with polygamy in Asma Nadia's Surga Yang Tak Dirindukan. This type of research is qualitative research using descriptive method. The research data are in the form of words, phrases, clauses, sentences, narratives about the characters, speech about the characters and the actions of the characters in the story in Asma Nadia's Surga Yang Tak Dirindukan . Data collection in the study was carried out in three stages, namely reading and understanding the novel, marking things related to the background of polygamy, the impact of polygamy and the attitude of female characters in dealing with polygamy contained in the novel Surga yang Tak Dirindukan by Asma Nadia, and inventorying data to obtain data related to the portrait of polygamy. The data validation technique used in this research is detailed description. There are four data analysis techniques in this research, including: reading the novel under study, describing the data in accordance with the problem formulation used, interpreting the collected data, and making conclusions and the results of the data format description. The research results obtained are: The background of polygamy is divided into, (a) sexual needs, (b) barren first wife, (c) wife lacks self-care, and (d) desire to help. The impact of polygamy is divided into, (a) positive impact, (b) negative impact. The attitude of female characters in dealing with polygamy in Asma Nadia's Surga Yang Tak Dirindukan is divided into: (a) acceptance and (b) rejection.
