Abstract

The problem discussed is about fantasy and emotions in child characters in the novel Mata dan Nyala Api Purba by Okky Madasari. This research aims to analyze the fantasies and emotions of child characters represented in the novel and their influence on the characters. The research method used is qualitative descriptive with data analysis in the form of words, phrases, clauses, or sentences that describe emotions and fantasies. The data is taken from one of Okky Madadi's Mata dan Nyala Api Purba published by PT Gramedia in 2021.  Fantasy in the novel is represented through imaginary friends in the form of humans, animals, and objects. The emotions of the child characters that appear include anger, fear, jealousy, joy, and sadness. The results of the study show that fantasies and emotions not only affect the storyline, but also play an important role in shaping children's characters, fostering positive values such as honesty, tolerance, discipline, hard work, creativity, curiosity, friendship/communicative, peace-loving, social care, responsibility, appreciating achievements, reading skills, and caring for the environment.
