Abstract

This article discusses hate speech related to the political dynasty discourse on social media platform X using a forensic linguistics approach. The objectives of this study are to explain: (1) the types of hate speech, and (2) the linguistic units used to express hate speech within the context of political dynasty discourse on social media X. This research employs a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The data consist of words, phrases, clauses, and sentences containing hate speech, collected from user posts on social media X that are relevant to the political dynasty issue. The results indicate that the types of hate speech found include 116 instances of insult, 45 of defamation, 4 of blasphemy, 11 of provocation, 4 of incitement, and 6 of spreading false information. The most dominant type of hate speech identified is insult. In terms of linguistic forms, the data show 24 instances of word-level hate speech, 41 phrase-level, 53 clause-level, and 67 sentence-level, with sentences being the most dominant linguistic unit. These findings suggest that hate speech in the political dynasty discourse on social media X tends to be delivered explicitly through complete sentence structures.
