Pola dan Proses Pembentukan Abreviasi pada Akun Instagram @Aniesbaswedan

This study aims to describe (1) types of abbreviations, (2) patterns and processes of forming abbreviations found in the Instagram social media @aniesbaswedan. This type of research is qualitative research using descriptive methods. The source of research data is the caption/information on the Instagram account post @aniesbaswedan published from June-December 2024. The data collection technique uses documentation techniques with corpus linguistic methods through the KORTARA application. The data analysis technique uses computational linguistic techniques, including the process of data identification, data classification, data interpretation, and drawing conclusions. Based on the research that has been conducted, there are four types of abbreviations, namely: (1) abbreviations as many as 312 data (234 auditive and 78 visual), (2) acronyms as many as 120 data, (3) excerpts as many as 93 data, and (4) letter symbols as many as 2 data. The type of contraction was not found because it is generally used in non-standard language varieties. Patterns and processes for forming abbreviations include: (a) abbreviations by retaining the first letter of each word (229 data), retaining one/several letters per word (66 data), and retaining the first letter by releasing conjunctions (17 data); (b) fragmentation by dividing the beginning (54 data) and the end of the word (39 data); (c) combining syllables and letters (47 data), combining syllables and words (2 data); (d) letter symbols with the preservation of several letters indicating quantity (2 data). These findings show that abbreviation plays an important role in the efficiency of digital communication on social media.
