Studi Pada Film Milly Dan Mamet Karya Ernest Prakarsa

Abstract

This research aims to explain: (1) types of implicature and (2) pragmatic functions of implicature of directive speech acts in the comedy film Milly and Mamet by Ernest Prakarsa. This type of research is a qualitative research with descriptive method. The data of this research are the utterances included in the directive speech in the movie. The data source in this research is the movie Milly and Mamet by Ernest Prakarsa. The method used in collecting data is the method of listening and note-taking technique. The data analysis technique goes through 4 stages, namely identifying data, classifying data, discussing data, and concluding data. Based on the results of data analysis, 77 research findings were obtained with the following details. First, four types of directive speech act implicatures were found in the movie Milly and Mamet, namely general conversational implicature, special conversational implicature, scale conversational implicature, and conventional implicature. The dominant implicature found is special conversational implicature as much as 31 data. Second, the pragmatic functions of implicature in directive speech acts were found, namely competitive, convivial, collaborative, and conflictive functions. The dominant pragmatic function found is competitive pragmatic function as much as 34 data. The results show that the implicature is widely used for the competitive function of commanding smoothed by the use of special conversational implicature. The urgency of this research is to help improve the understanding of the implicature.
